Ashleigh Strohman, Ph.D.

Director of Restored Care & Counseling
Licensed Psychologist PSY33093

One of my greatest joys in life is walking with people as a guide and pointer towards greater hope and freedom. I became a follower of Jesus in the middle of my Ph.D. program in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) and quickly discovered that the lasting change, purpose and healing I was seeking for myself and others came through a relationship with Jesus. As I experienced personal transformation and healing unlike what I was exposed to in secular psychology paradigms, I also noticed the vital role the local church played in that process of transformation. I began to let myself imagine what it would look like to provide therapy in a manner that integrated the valuable clinical training I received and yet considered the intersection of faith, mental, and relational health. That journey began over 15 years ago, and God’s path towards healing continues to surprise and delight me. My approach to therapy is grounded in my clinical training and gospel-centered.

I have 20 years of experience in mental health and have trained and worked in various settings including a psychiatric hospital, a community mental health program, a college counseling center, a drug and alcohol program, a weight-management program and have held various leadership roles within the local church.

I currently oversee the Restored Care & Counseling network and provide therapy online for adult individuals and couples at various stages in their relationship (dating, pre-marriage, and married). My specialties include helping people who struggle with emotional health, relationships, self-image, substance misuse, life transitions (e.g. motherhood, college) and trauma. I have specialized training in helping those who have experienced sexual trauma. I also work with married couples who are struggling with sexual and emotional intimacy. My style of therapy is collaborative, compassionate and practical. Evidenced-based modaties I utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (story work), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I also draw heavily from the work of Dr. Diane Langberg, Dr. Dan Allender, Dr. Terry Wardle, Dr. Juli Slattery and Dr. Jennifer Konzen. I’ve been deeply formed by the teachings of Dr. Timothy Keller and have participated in training with Dr. Judy Cha of Redeemer Counseling in New York City. People who know me well describe me as authentic, compassionate, adventurous and driven. While my style can be direct and growth-oriented, I aim to offer a gentle, grace-paced environment for clients to be truly heard and receive the personalized care they need.

While I enjoy working with people of diverse faiths and backgrounds, I am passionate about combining effective tools and research from psychology with spiritual healing. As a follower of Jesus, I love coming alongside clients in finding ultimate truth and belonging through knowing God, who created us and invites us to have a life full of joy, purpose, and hope.

I live in a foothill community of Southern California with my husband, our son, daughter, an energetic dog, and spunky cat. When I’m not at the baseball field with my son or in the dance studio with my daughter, I enjoy hiking, riding horses, and listening to live music with my husband. We both serve as leaders in our local church and value involvement in the life of our church community.
